Colleagues and Friends of the Roma Education Fund Gather Together Today

Today, the Roma Education Fund invited its colleagues, friends, associates and neighbors to pause for a moment and celebrate together our efforts to bring justice, equality and inclusion to all aspects of our societies.

Today, the Roma Education Fund invited its colleagues, friends, associates and neighbors to pause for a moment and celebrate together our efforts to bring justice, equality and inclusion to all aspects of our societies.

As a reminder of how we can have a profound effect on the quality of Romani children’s lives and education, the Fund installed a photography exhibition in the foyer of our headquarters in Budapest.

Taken over the 2011-2012 school year in Hungary and wider afield, these photographs show how we help Romani children fulfill their right to a quality, inclusive education. Such fundamental investments in early childhood education and care are part of A Good Start, a REF program sponsored largely by the European Union, that has made great strides in literary, numeracy and enrollment.

REF would like to remind national governments in Central and South Eastern Europe of their commitment to the Roma Decade as well as their longstanding commitment to fundamental treaties on human and children’s rights to which they are all signatories.
We believe that everyone – from parents to policymakers – has a role to play in the education of Romani children and youth.
