Roma Educational Fund (REF), Budapest, organizes a Gala ceremony for the winners of the REF RMUSP academic cycle 2012/2013, for 202 openly Roma students, as beneficiaries.

Roma Educational Fund (REF), Budapest, organizes a Gala ceremony for the winners of the REF RMUSP academic cycle 2012/2013, for 202 openly Roma students, as beneficiaries.

The Gala ceremony will take place on 4th December 2012 (Tuesday) from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the big hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

130 Roma students who study in Bulgarian universities all over the country have confirmed to participate in the ceremony as well as Roma intellectuals working in various fields – journalists, medical proffecionals, writers, NGO activists, representatives of state administration (National Assembly, Ministry of Education, Youth and Scvience, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs), etc.

From the beginning of the REF Scholarship Program more than 1400 Roma students in Bulgaria have become beneficiaries. During the last 2011/2012 cicle the scholarship students were 300.

The Roma Education Fund (REF) was created in the framework of the Decade of Roma Inclusion in 2005. Its mission and ultimate goal is to close the gap in educational outcomes between Roma and non-Roma. In order to achieve this goal, the organization supports policies and programs which ensure quality education for Roma, including the desegregation of education systems.

Annualy REF supports more than 700 sholarship students in Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Turkey.
