Policy recommendations from the Regional seminar of the EU-funded REF project in Skopje

“Those of us who gain higher education have more prospects to enhance its position in own community but also gain new position in mainstream society. In other words, without education we are condemned to live on the margins of society, with all what it implies – on one side – in poverty and in marginalization, on the other, sometimes in good economic conditions but socially marginalized.

Education remains central to all other social inclusion’s dimensions. The level of education achieved determines how we live and how we care about our living. I hope that this truth will guide efforts of all stakeholders gathered here”, said Andrzej Mirga, REF’s Board Chair, during the Regional Seminar in Skopje, 19 June, as part of the project “Increasing Educational Opportunities for Roma in Western Balkans and Turkey”.
