Recommendations for the Post 2020 EU Strategic Framework

Roma Education Fund (REF) welcomes the initiative of the European Commission calling for public recommendations for the Post 2020 EU Strategic Framework. REF, along with contributions and inputs from Open Society Foundations (OSF), European Public Health Alliance (EPHA), International Step by Step Association (ISSA) and EUROCHILD have prepared and submitted a report to the European Commission to address the Post 2020 EU Strategic Framework.

Our recommendations focus on the need to address broader social and structural problems that directly influence the low access and participation of Roma in education; the lack of access to social services and provision for Roma, the need to understand that quality education goes hand in hand with good health, the need to address and flourish Roma children’s cultural identity and their opportunities to participate in mainstream education.

In order to tackle the above mentioned, REF has provided 15 recommendations in our report, titled, Tackling Discrimination and Socio-Economic Exclusion.

The report is available to read and download here.
