Scholarship Programs

Important: the REF Scholarship Programs are addressed exclusively to people of Roma ethnicity!

PROGRAM RATIONALE AND PHILOSOPHY

The purpose of Roma Education Fund’s Scholarship Programs (REF SP) is to contribute to the emergence of a critical mass of Roma, higher education graduates, confident and proud of their Roma identity, equipped with skills and competencies that enable them to become professionals in their fields and contribute to the positive change in the life of their communities which they remain solidly connected to.

The REF SP opens a merit and community-involvement-based program, where active involvement in community-based activities is valued equally important as one`s academic achievements, for Roma students pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degrees at state-accredited universities.

REF SP is providing a space for REF students to be actively involved in the growth of the next generation of Roma Leaders. The programs, besides the financial support, also offer and well-designed Community Engagement Program that includes mentoring and counseling, workshops and skills development, mobility and summer camps, internships, community engagement and voluntary services, small-scale projects. Every component of the Community Engagement Program will have its own call for enrollment that we’ll be publicly announced in due time.

IMPORTANT | REF SP for the 21/22 academic year accepts only renewal applicants from the 2020/21 academic year as eligible!
