Call for Consultants: Coaching Services for Roma Education Fund

The Roma Education Fund’s (REF) mission and ultimate goal is to close the gap in educational outcomes between Roma and non-Roma. In order to achieve this goal, the organization supports policies and programs which ensure quality education for Roma through scholarships, grant making and advocacy activities. The objectives of REF include:

• Expanding Romani children’s access to quality early childhood education and care
• Improving primary education outcomes for Romani children aged six to fourteen
• Boosting academic performance and graduation rates from secondary education for Romani pupils
• Supporting access to tertiary education, improving graduation levels and strengthening identity of Romani university students
• Expanding employment opportunities for young Romani adults

The Roma Education Fund operates its activities in close links with civil society and institutional partners in 16 countries of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe.

During 2020, REF is relocating the Headquarters (HQ) of its Swiss Foundation from Budapest, Hungary to in Belgrade, Serbia. As a consequence, some staff will be relocating to the new HQ while some will be staying in Hungary. The Governing Board of the Foundation is still to decide on the future of the REF Hungary. Currently, REF Hungary has about 25 staff members.

In order to smooth transition and support staff during the process, the management of REF is seeking services of an experienced consultant to do the following:

• Conduct confidential interviews along with the workshop with individual staff members in order to inform REF about the motivation of the team with the view of how to support transition;
• Based on inputs received, prepare a report and design a plan on how to support interim management and individual staff members during the transition both those who are moving to the new HQ and those who will not be relocating. This can include individual coaching services, workshop or other types of services as suggested by the consultant;
• Adjust the plan based on the feedback;
• Implement the finalized version of the plan.
• Provide support interim management to better run the executive team and the organization.

Services should be conducted until the end of December and starting not later than August.

Necessary Qualifications:
• Certificate of at least a practitioner in coaching
• 7 – 10 years of experience
• Compulsory fluency in English language
• Experience of working in international environment
• Desirable knowledge of at least one other foreign language in countries where the REF Network carries out its activities
• Ability to establish rapport with international staff from different countries
• Outstanding organizational planning skills
• Gender sensitivity and respect for diversity
