Claudia Lixandru Accepts New Academic and Professional Challenges

After 10 years of successful partnership with the Roma Education Fund, Claudia Lixandru will continue her work related to communities in the academic environment, answering different professional challenges.

“I am happy to announce that in my professional life there are new opportunities that I have expanded beyond the scope of my current activity, towards the academic and business areas. Of course, I will remain involved in the activity that is very dear to me, to grow and serve communities, work in which I have accumulated important experience since 2014. As part of this mission, I started a doctoral thesis on the vicious circle of poverty and education. I thank the Roma Education Fund for the growth opportunity and the support it has given me throughout the whole collaboration” – Claudia Lixandru.

During all these years she managed an international team of hundreds of colleagues, implementing educational projects on all educational levels, starting from early childhood development to students, adults and teachers related programs. With her team, she also developed school infrastructure in 11 locations from Romania. She also managed a multi-million budget, coordinating one of the biggest foundations implementing structural funds in Romania and funds targeting the Roma communities all over Europe and the Western Balkans. She also had her contribution to different strategic bodies, being part of the Board of the Coalition for Education, the monitoring bodies of different EU funds, the Roma Sounding Board of the World Bank and other working groups.

“Claudia is a very active and dynamic colleague, who has made a significant contribution to the growth and visibility of REF not only in Romania, but also in the region. From the position of director, she led, implemented, and assisted educational projects of over 100 million euros dedicated to Roma communities. Claudia’s departure closes a chapter, but opens an opportunity that we offer to professionals who seek the scope of work of this level of significance and social importance. I am grateful to Claudia for working closely with me on a responsible handover as she goes on to start a new chapter of her professional endeavor.”,  declares Ciprian Necula, the President of the Board of the Roma Education Fund.

During the next months the Foundation will launch and evaluate the applications for the new positions of directors of the organization. The process of identification, evaluation and selection of candidates will be led by an international, multidisciplinary team. Information about the new positions will be published in the coming weeks on the Foundation’s communication channels.
