REF’s Advocacy Officer took part in the European Regional Forum on Education, Language and the Human Rights of Minorities in Brussels

The European Regional Forum on Education, Language and the Human Rights of Minorities was held in Brussels, at the European Parliament on May 6-7 2019. The event was organized by the United Nations and Ton Lantos Institute.

Roland Ferkovics, REF’s Advocacy Officer talked about the dimensions and quality of education of Roma in the EU member states, as well as to what extent educational policies reflect the needs of the Roma communities.

Issues of minority language education of Roma were also addressed, as well as the potential risk of misplacing Roma children into segregated schools.
