The Roma Education Fund Romania, the Master of Roma Studies and the Faculty of Political Sciences within the National School of Political and Administrative Studies – SNSPA in Bucharest, Romania, organized the second edition of the International Scientific Conference on “Gheorghianism (Nicolae Gheorghe’s Doctrine) and the Foundations of the Roma Nation”.

During the 2023 edition, held at SNSPA on November 10-11, a total of 31 researchers, master’s students, doctoral students, and doctors from various fields participated.

During the opening of the session, Mr. Cristian Pîrvulescu, Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences, Dr. Ciprian Necula, President of the Roma Education Fund and the Master of Roma Studies Coordinator, and Mr. Shyam Parande, International Coordinator of ‘Sewa International’ and Secretary General of the Indian Council for International Cooperation highlighted the importance and essential nature of such scientific sessions.

“The second edition of our event brought us immense joy because of the substantial participation—31 researchers from four countries. It’s heartening to witness interest in this field, which unfortunately remains underrepresented in academia. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the participants and warmly invite them to join us again in 2024. Our hope is to attract an even larger number of researchers from diverse countries. I dare to believe that Nicolae Gheorghe would have taken pride in our collective efforts!” – Valentin Negoi, REF Romania.

“The scientific session, dedicated to Nicolae Gheorghe’s legacy, provided an exceptional platform to delve into the history, culture, and intricate experiences of the Roma communities in Romania and beyond. The event fostered inclusivity, allowing us to engage with researchers across diverse fields, explore shared research interests, and lay the groundwork for future collaborations. My heartfelt appreciation goes to the organizers for facilitating this enriching dialogue.” – PhD Cristina Galalae, University Lecturer specializing in Marketing at the University of Leicester School of Business, Director of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion at the same university, and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy .

The official opening of the session took place at the Embassy of India on November 10th
