Roma Remember Campaign

History is our connection to past times, a bridge that connects us to the past, but also to the future. Historical artifacts play a key role in researching and understanding the past, providing us with valuable information about the times that shaped our world. Artifacts that bear witness to the suffering during the Second World War are especially important, because they remind us of the dark moments of human history and warn us not to repeat history.

This is precisely why ERIAC, REF, REDI and ORS are proud to announce the start of the campaign called “Roma remember”. This campaign has a special significance because it allows us to preserve the legacy of the past and raise awareness of the suffering of the Roma during the Second World War.

The culture of remembrance lives in every Roma family, and now is the time to turn that family legacy into an institutionalized history. We invite all Roma to actively participate in the research and collection of stories, documents and other artifacts that will enrich our understanding of the suffering of Roma in Serbia and Yugoslavia during the Second World War.

This campaign does not only want to look back on the past, but also to shed light on the continuous challenges that the Roma community faces today. We invite Roma cultural creators to join us in creating art works that will inspire the memory on the suffering of the Roma, who were then victims of genocide attempts simply because they were different and seen as less valuable.

👉 On this occasion, we invite all citizens, institutions and organizations to support this initiative. Join us in preserving the memory of the Roma victims of the Holocaust, because only through joint efforts can we build a tolerant society, which will unconditionally fight against all forms of prejudice and discrimination.

✊ Let’s support the “Roma remember” campaign and let our common memory strengthen our future.
